Offering services in the Southeast for a decade, DC TEK is led by Douglas Cernonok, BFA Environmental Design, Certified Welder.

Miscellaneous repair or monumental custom railing, DC TEK operates a facility with flexibility to accommodate a comprehensive scope of work, from structural retrofitting, mechanical modifications, and life-safety code compliance, to architectural ornament. DC TEK consults on architectural metalwork projects all along the Eastern seaboard.

The Genesis

With a BFA in Environmental Design, the study of Architecture inspired me to develop a better understanding of construction fundamentals. I was moved by the words of the famous Architect Louis I. Kahn who once said, "...listen to the man who works with his hands...he may be able to show you a better way to do it..."

I embarked in pursuit of applied building techniques and began my career as a field mechanic working with a cable transportation systems company. We would build and repair custom detachable "chair-lift" systems to elegantly transport adventurers from the foothills up to some of the most majestic peaks in both the Appalachian and Rocky Mountain ranges.

I could see my future leading to cities. Exposed to a wider variety of services beyond specialty repair, I chose welding and focused on ornamental iron. Working with small businesses and craftsmen, I began to refine the skills to fabricate and install custom ornamental and architectural metalwork. I found a furniture company with a demand for architectural fabrication and installation. Customer after customer insisted, "why can't we call you direct?" DC TEK was born in 1998.
